World of Wine is an event presented by the Temecula Winegrowers Association each March and it’s a wonderful opportunity to visit the majority of Temecula’s wineries, enjoy barrel samples side by side with current releases as well as a nibble to go with the wine. Check in this year was at Callaway Winery and a large group congregated Saturday morning to begin the journey. It’s been a tradition of mine to visit every single winery and I succeeded this time around; 20 wineries on Saturday and 16 Sunday. For the most part, it was a huge success. It saddened me to see a few wineries “phone it in”, but the majority did Temecula quite proud. There was another cork art competition and there were some notable entries, including a stunning cluster of grapes from Temecula artist David M. Bowley at Lumiere, a French rat from Wiens, a breast cancer awareness ribbon from Callaway and an Eiffel Tower from Europa Village. I’ve compiled two slide shows with my impressions. I hope you enjoy them.
