The Temecula Winegrowers Association has been doing this for a while and it shows. This past weekend Mother Nature cooperated in spades with majestic weather for a fabulous event. 34 wineries opened their doors for barrel and tank samples and a bite of food. Some wineries showed off their creative side with works of art created from cork. Once again, I made it my mission to visit all 34 participating wineries and the question I was asked most was ‘what was the best?’ My vote for best wines goes to Danza del Sol for their tank sample of Viognier. Chef Martin Corso prepared a food trio for Danza del Sol which was also if not my favorite, very close to it. The cork lion at Wilson Creek Winery gets my vote for best cork art. In a few short week, the vines will be displaying their greenery. Gus Vizgirda at Maurice Car’rie and Van Roekel told me their Chardonnay has already begun bud break.
