Last week over 40 downtown San Diego eateries opened their doors to hundreds attending the city’s longest running multiple neighborhood taste. Taste of Downtown San Diego offered guests the chance to sample food and beverages from restaurants in the Gaslamp, Downtown Core and East Village Districts. We began our culinary exhibition at Rustic Root on Fifth Avenue, where we enjoyed an amuse bouche of scallop and mushroom with a mini Mai Tai.
We joined other celebrants for bites at Don Chido, searsucker, Rei do Gado, The Field, Henry’s, BICE, Royal India, Tin Roof, Gourmet India, Cute Cakes and finally waving the white flag at Ciro’s Pizza. What a wonderful way to explore downtown San Diego. Several times through the evening, my companions and I looked at each other and said “let’s come back to this place!”
San Diego is an ideal walking city. If you missed this year’s “Taste”, put it on your calendar for next year. In the meantime, pay downtown San Diego a visit and discover its many charms.
