Part two of the WINEormous holiday gift guide focuses on gifts for the lover of spirits in your life. You may never have heard of Baiju. I hadn’t until earlier this year, but it’s the most widely consumed liquor in China. From Shui Jing Fang I suggest you gift the Wellbay Baiju. As you can see the presentation is drop dead gorgeous. Weighing in at 104 proof, this is unlike anything else I have ever tasted. The nose is disctinctly fruity, but it’s not easy to put a finger on what you’re smelling. Lychee? Maybe. It’s priced at around $100 for a 750ml bottle and your gift will never be forgotten.
I’m a tequila aficionado and I’m always on the lookout for quality tequila. When I saw the bottle of DeLeón I was struck by how elegant is was. In a square bottle of heavy glass, the logo is etched into the bottle. The cap is an intricate metal design. What’s most impressive, however, is what’s inside the bottle. DeLeón Platinum tequila defines smooth. It has every element of a fine tequila without a hint of harshness. At $60 a bottle, it’s worth every penny. This is one tequila you’re going to want to sip and savor.
Finally, I enjoyed the Speyburn Arranta Casks Single Malt Whisky. I enjoy an occasional whisky and this one is lovely. It has a sweetness with touches of honey and orange peel along with some tobacco and smoke. It comes in an attractive cylinder and sells for around $40.
I wish you a very joyous holiday season.
