Charlie opened Curry Vineyards’ tasting room in the lobby of the Palomar Inn Hotel in Old Town Temecula at the beginning of the year. Prior to that he had been selling to a few restaurants and wine shops. Wife Michelle takes care of the kids and horses, but is there to lend a hand when she’s needed.

Chris is a great storyteller. He shared a story with us about a lady who called him and said her parents had a vineyard in Hemet that needed harvesting. He loaded the truck with bins, buckets and miscellaneous tools and when he arrived at the property discovered “the vineyard” consisted of one vine.
When they decided to locate the winery on De Portola Road, more than a few eyebrows were raised. There were only two other wineries on the road at the time: Keyways and Filsinger. Keyways was open only occasionally; Filsinger was open on weekends only. Several owners of wineries on Rancho California Road told them they were making a big mistake. They honestly wondered if they were making a mistake themselves.

For those with a sweet tooth there was Cupcake Love and Godiva Chocolate. Several wineries were on hand including locals like Fallbrook Winery and Callaway Vineyard and Winery as well as other wineries from across the state like Kiamie Cellars, Cass and Calcareous from Paso Robles and Robinson Family and Jake-Ryan from Napa. It was good night for beer lovers as well, with offerings from Stone Brewing Company, Pacific Libations and others.
